Former Patriot Jarvis Green brings business to Boston

Former Patriot Jarvis Green to bring his business, Oceans 97 Inc., to Boston.

As a 6 foot 3 inch, 285 pound former defensive end, Jarvis Green probably isn't used to being called shrimpy. But his new line of work is exactly that.

Green's shrimp wholesale business, Oceans 97 Inc., recently announced that it will open a new office in Boston, its first expansion outside of its Louisiana headquarters. The company will be located in the Snap Chef Culinary Innovation Center in Dorchester.

After eight seasons and two Super Bowl victories with the Patriots, Green grew fond of New England, and from the start, he hoped his company would grow to become a part of the region.

"Expanding Oceans 97 to New England and specifically Boston has been part of the company plan since the beginning. During my time with the Patriots, I developed a great appreciation for the Massachusetts seafood industry and its national and global reach," Green said in a press release. "We are proud to be a Boston company and look forward to the bright future for Oceans 97 Shrimp."

Oceans 97 already has business relationships with Boston Children's Hospital, Union Hospital and Salem Hospital, but with this added location, it will add customers such as Market Basket to its list, according to the release.

Green's culinary prowess began when he was a kid and has continued on into adulthood, even scoring an appearance on MasterChef in 2011. The move brings Green's post-NFL career back to the region where it all started.
