FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – The New England Patriots announced today that they have signed rookie free agent OL Martez Ivey. In addition, the Patriots released OL Cole Croston.
Ivey, 24, played in 49 games with 44 starts at both guard and tackle during his four seasons at Florida. The 6-foot-5, 306-pounder earned Second Team All-SEC honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. Last season, Ivey started all 13 games for the Gators as part of an offensive line that allowed just 18 sacks over the course of the entire season.
Croston, 26, was originally signed by the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Iowa on May 5, 2017. The 6-foot-5, 310-pounder made the 53-man roster out of training camp as a rookie and appeared in three regular-season games and the AFC Championship Game. Croston began the 2018 regular season on the New England practice squad and was added to the 53-man roster on Sept. 15. He appeared in two games as a reserve before being released on Nov. 6. He re-joined the Patriots practice squad on Nov. 8, where he remained for the rest of the season.
